Wednesday's colour

I think it's so important to find a little colour in your day. It lifts your spirits. The girls and I have been making fairy bread to brighten our day...now I have to deal with the sugar rush. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday

Organised Space

This may be going to the extreme! I'm not quite sure if I'm loving or loathing the idea of T-shirt vending machines...what about you?

I have had an extremely busy weekend working on a couple of new jewellery designs that are in store now you can buy here. I also finished a painting commissioned by a friend. The brief was a painting with a kiwi flavour for a natural coloured interior. The finished painting below is loosely based on the Maori koru pattern which represents new growth, balance and harmony in life...Hope you had a great weekend!

I'm just letting everyone know there is no power in our area tomorrow for the whole day. Our power lines are being upgraded which is rather annoying but necessary after the Black Saturday fires. So I will endeavour to reply to emails after 5pm.

Have a Great Monday Morning!

My creative space

There are some seriously clever crafty people over at ourcreativespaces and it's really inspiring looking at the work people put in every week.

I have been making leather necklaces to sell in the shop so I thought I would share how easy it is to actually make them.

What you need:

leather scraps (my scraps came from a necklace I found in an op shop)
scissors
jump rings
chain
clasps

Cut your shape

 add jump rings
 thread chain
 add clasps...and your done! easy!

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I was busy catching up on all the work I missed from the previous long weekend. I've been sending orders off, finishing projects and running around after two high energy little girls and a husband...I need TEN hands!

I had to send my last blue rhino head off today - so sad :(...

DIY ART

Here are some really easy contemporary watercolour designs for you to try. There is no mixing of paints or technical skill involved so you don't need to be an artist to create these designs...have a go!
TIP: The most important thing to remember is always have immaculately clean paper.

  • paint
  • paint brushes
  • jars
  • watercolour paper
  • cardboard stick
  • frame

water jars
Start with a circle or balloon shape. Dip brush in water and place at base of circle. Turn picture and let it drip. Voila! balloons on a string. Let it dry and frame or use a black ink pen to draw around the balloons.

Do the same process in another colour with as many shapes as you like...

Use black ink pen around balloons
This design is so simple. Just get a piece of thick card carefully dab with acrylic paint and drag along the paper. Clean card with a cloth and dip into your next with colour. You can do these colour swatches to match your home interior.

DIY

Felt Jewellery

When winter comes around the kids are always sick and it's so frustrating. My little miss M is just getting over a horrible ear infection and our whole household has the flu. So with everyone being home today we decided to make jewellery - we're so happy with the way it turned out...

you will need:

felt balls
pliers
head pins
leather or chain
left over beads

pierce a hole through a felt ball
push the headpin through the hole
cut and bend the pin with pliers so the chord can go through
thread the chord or chain
tie a bead to one end so you can make an adjustable chord
and your done. CUTE!
for a big person, it looks great on...

Happy weekend peoples!
